    What is Reformer?

    Our Philosophy

    Pilates Reformer is an intensive, holistic body workout which is carried out on special equipment — the reformers. It specifically strengthens your muscles, improves your posture and increases your flexibility. At the same time, it promotes precise body awareness and stabilizes your core, which can have a positive effect on your movements in everyday life, during sports activities and in rehabilitation after injuries.
    The reformer was developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s and, thanks to its spring-based mechanism, offers a variety of exercises that target the deep muscle groups that are essential for a healthy posture and a stable core. Compared to mat Pilates, the reformer enables a particularly varied and effective form of training thanks to the resistance and support of the device.

    What is Pilates?

    Pilates is a holistic body workout to strengthen muscles, primarily pelvic floor, abdominal and back muscles. It combines breathing, strength exercises, coordination and stretching in harmonious movements. Pilates is aimed at all those who appreciate targeted core training and powerful movements. Our courses are designed for every fitness level — from beginners to advanced. With a focus on posture and muscle strengthening, Pilates helps you to increase your physical strength and flexibility and to shape your body holistically.

    Which locations does YTTP have in Germany?

    We have several Reformer Pilates Studios in various locations as well as a Pilates, Barre & Strength Studio in the Belgian Quarter in Cologne. Each studio follows the same training standards, but has its own character. You can find all locations at yttp.de/locations.

    What is reformer Pilates?

    Reformer Pilates is an intensive, holistic body workout that is carried out on a special device — the reformer. Through precise exercises on the reformer, your deep muscles, strength, flexibility and body control are effectively strengthened. It is suitable for beginners to advanced users and adapts to every level.

    What makes YTTP different from other Pilates studios?

    YTTP isn't just about movement, it's about real change. Our studios are deliberately designed differently so that we can surprise you in each and every one. Each class is well thought out, clearly structured and designed to make you feel stronger, more upright and more connected to your body after a workout.

    What offers are there in your mat studio in the Belgian Quarter?

    In our mat studio in the Belgian Quarter, we offer classes such as Pilates, Barre and Strength. All mats are provided by us here — you don't have to bring anything with you. Active recovery yoga sessions are also occasionally held there.

    How often should I train Reformer Pilates to see progress?

    For noticeable results, we recommend taking Reformer Pilates classes 2-3 times a week. This way, you will see faster progress in strength, posture and mobility.

    Can I cancel courses or workshops booked online?

    Yes, you can simply cancel your booked appointments via your account. You can access your account either via the link in the booking confirmation email or via our course calendar. Courses can be canceled free of charge up to 12 hours before the course starts, and the amount will be credited to your account. For workshops and other events, you can find the respective cancellation conditions in the course description.

    Are there any discounts or memberships with YTTP?

    Yes, we offer various membership models and discounts, such as 12-card cards or long-term memberships at attractive prices. Under the “Prices” menu on our website, you can find an overview of all our offer prices for the courses.

    Do you also offer training and continuing education?

    Yes, we offer basic Pilates training, advanced reformer training and all-round Pilates training. The YTTP ACADEMY is the hotspot for prospective Pilates teachers in Germany. Here you will have the opportunity to develop the necessary skills in 60 and 120 hours of training. With a creative approach and experienced mentors, modern courses will challenge you not only in practice but also in theory. Perfect for anyone who wants to take their Pilates journey to the next level. Under the “Academy” menu item, you will find all our training offers, detailed information and the option to submit a request directly to us.

    Can anyone take part in the class?

    Our courses are available to everyone, regardless of your level of experience. You don't need any special experience — we start right where you are. Some courses are more advanced; you can see this in the course schedule based on the course description. The most important thing is that you listen to your body and be mindful of yourself. You know your limits best. If certain exercises are unpleasant for you, you can skip them or find a suitable alternative together with the trainer.

    How do I behave in your studios and are there rules?

    For all our courses — Pilates, Reformer, Barre and Strength — there are a few basic rules of conduct to ensure a pleasant working relationship. Please be there at least 5-10 minutes before the course starts to prepare in peace and quiet and start the course undisturbed. Switch your phone off during class or into flight mode to avoid distractions. Be respectful of the other participants and trainers, as everyone is here to relax and improve. Also pay attention to personal hygiene and clean the mats and equipment used after the course (disinfectants are available). If you are late or have to leave early, please do so quietly without disrupting the course. If you have any health problems or injuries, inform the trainers before the start of the course so that they can take appropriate consideration.

    Which classes do you offer?

    Our Reformer Studios offer a diverse range of classes – from YTTP Modern Reformer – Fundamentals for beginners, through YTTP Modern Reformer, to YTTP Modern Reformer – Strength and rotating specials. At our Pilates, Barre & Strength Studio in Cologne's Belgian Quarter, you'll also find complementary classes, including Yoga sessions for active recovery. You can always find the full class schedule on our website at yttp.de/kursplan or in the YTTP App.

    How can I sign up for a class?

    In our course schedule on yttp.de/kursplan, simply select your appropriate course, and you will then be shown all payment options (individual lessons, Power Passes or memberships). Pay conveniently via PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or credit card. Alternatively, you can book all of our courses via the Urban Sports Club or Wellhub app.

    What do I need for my first Reformer Pilates course?

    Please bring the following: Comfortable, tight-fitting sportswear and Grip Socks (non-slip socks for a secure grip on the reformer). We recommend bringing your own grip socks — alternatively, you can buy them locally (12.90€) in seasonally changing colors.

    What is Reformer Pilates and what does it do?

    Reformer Pilates is a special form of Pilates that is performed on a device called a “reformer.” Through precise exercises on the reformer, we strengthen your deep muscles and promote your mobility — ideal for anyone looking for a demanding and effective full body workout. Whether you're a beginner or advanced, our reformer training adapts to your level and brings you to your personal goal.

    Do I need previous knowledge to start with Reformer Pilates?

    No prior experience is required to start Reformer Pilates at YTTP. However, we recommend beginning with YTTP Modern Reformer – Fundamentals. In this class, you'll learn all the basics, how to safely use the Reformer, and the most important movement principles and techniques. This will provide an optimal foundation for all subsequent classes.

    What are the Modern Reformer classes and how do they differ?

    Our Modern Reformer program guides you step-by-step – from the basics to the ultimate challenge. YTTP Modern Reformer – Fundamentals is your introduction to the Reformer. In this 50-minute class, you'll learn the fundamentals: how to use the equipment, precise movements, mindful pacing, as well as control and technique. The challenge lies in the details – perfect for beginners or anyone looking to refine their form. YTTP Modern Reformer builds on Fundamentals and adds more intensity to your workout. By using props, movements become more complex and transitions smoother. The focus is on stability, strength, and control. For an optimal experience, we recommend attending Fundamentals at least three times. YTTP Modern Reformer – Strength is designed for those who have already mastered the Reformer. Expect creative sequences, dynamic transitions, and new challenges. Here, the focus is on muscular endurance, rhythm, and athletic flow – for anyone looking to challenge themselves at a new level.

    Do you have showers in the studios?

    Our studios are designed for efficient and focused training. Please note that there are no showers on site, so plan your training accordingly.

    Can I combine Reformer Pilates with other training?

    Very good, actually. Many from our community combine reformers Pilates with weight training, running, or barre. Reformer Pilates helps you to train more stably, flexibly and in a more balanced way.

    Am I not allowed to do Pilates, Reformer, Barre or Strength with certain health conditions?

    If you have any health restrictions, you should check with your doctor before participating whether participating in our Pilates, Reformer or Strength courses is suitable for you. It is possible that your doctor will advise you against individual exercises. So that our well-trained teachers can offer you suitable alternatives for the exercises, it is important that we talk about your limitations together. As with every participant, you should pay particular attention to yourself.
